THIS AND THAT

The weeks fly by.... It is full summer here, the tomato plants reaching for the sky, the first group of perennials have been deadheaded, and the goldfinches, nuthatches and black headed grosbeaks bring their fledgling to our sunflower seed feeder. 
I have the good fortune of having a job, with the good news being I'm back down to 3 1/2 days a week and the bad news being I'm back down to 3 1/2 days a week. 
Pictured is my latest adventure in kitchen science, fermenting, as in sour pickles. I've been quick pickling via brining and vinegar or citrus a variety of vegies the past couple of years, but have always wanted to try making the "real stuff" and you cannot buy an actual sour pickle up here. Next I think will be kimchee, which only needs three days versus the three to four weeks to sour up these cukes.
I'm also giving "social media" a second shot, over on Google+, which has a nice interface and MUCH better, easy to manage privacy settings than those other guys.
