YOU WANT ME TO EAT WHAT?????

I was drawn to, then out, the back door late yesterday afternoon by an incessant bleating up the hill behind us, as if some woolly little lamb had been abandoned. It was so...sad...lonely...
Then our out back neighbor came home and told us the story and we saw this little cutie, a dwarf Nubian goat (Nubians happen to be my very favorite goats in the world; dwarfs have the advantage or disadvantage, depending on your perspective, that they are too short to stand on their hind legs and drape their front legs over your shoulders to say hello). She borrowed him from friends in order to get her too-tall grasses eaten back.
A nice plan; however, this apparently is not a weed-eating goat. It  is a spoiled pet goat that got carried over in its owners arms, complete with its doggie bed so it wouldn't have to lie in the grass or dirt. While our neighbor was at work all day, rather than eat weeds, it lounged around on her deck and ate her violets. And then decided to voice its extreme disgruntlement over its working conditions.
Which it also did, quite loudly, this morning as I was getting ready for work. Most entertaining but not exactly birdsong...so we were just as happy that this precious pampered pet was returned to its owners today.

Cute. When our neighbors first got some goats it took me hours to figure out an abused child hadn't been moved in someplace close by...
